KITCHENER - Today Margaret Johnston announced her candidacy for Kitchener’s City Council in Ward 8.
Margaret served as a Kitchener Trustee on the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) from 2010-2014. She currently sits on the City of Kitchener Economic Development Advisory Council and has served on the City’s Property Standards Committee. In addition, Margaret serves on the Service Review Panel for Co-operators of Canada. “Ward 8 deserves positive and collaborative representation at City Hall,” said Johnston. “I am excited to take my record of responsive, engaged representation at the WRDSB and my experience in Kitchener’s business and volunteer sectors to a new role serving the citizens as Councillor of Ward 8.” Johnston is a bridge-builder and community connector. She helps Waterloo Region businesses find the talent they need to succeed and develops new business partnerships in co-operative education. Margaret understands the importance of economic development and a well-trained workforce in fostering a vibrant economy. She uses her skills to develop community and has served on the Board of the Victoria Hills Neighbourhood Association since 2014, enjoying the diversity of the wonderful team that has come together there. “I have the ability to get things done for Ward 8. My extensive leadership and elected experience along with my ability to build people and capacity will see Ward 8 thrive. I am excited to work with everyone at the Council table to make positive change for Ward 8 and our city.”
